寄る辺ない旅かもしれない。人生とは。
気がつけば今いる場所さえも僕の本当の意味での家ではない。
毎日のように仕事をして何気ない生活を続けながらも僕は旅をし続けているのだ、と矛盾した考え方かもしれないけれど今回の旅行は僕にそう教えてくれた気がしたのだ。
二週間という限られた期間で地球を一回りしてみて一番感じたのは旅行という行為そのものが与えてくれる刺激で、その刺激の本質とは一体なんなのかという疑問である。
ここでは時間の許す限り、旅先で撮りためたフィルム写真を各地の思い出とともに綴ってみたい。そうすることで旅情が残していった強烈な刺激から未だにおさまらない胸中のしびれを少しだけ緩和する事が出来ると願い。
In my opinion, life is journey with no settling home.
Yes, I do currently live at a place to call home (thankfully I am not yet bum) and I shall not forget to appreciate the fact this “ordinary” living is something that is most beautiful and precious. However, I must also not forget this does not mean my feet are not moving; in fact my feet are moving forward continuously to reach the goal in my life (wherever that may be). Ironically enough, it is not until after my recent travel has ended this realization came to mind to consider this life itself is journey that keeps going on.
Because the travel bug has bitten me so badly, now I have to be careful and nurse the marks left on my intense curiosity. Here I will post a series of photos and comments from 2-week long around the globe trip that I have embarked on late November; hoping this attempt will slowly cure the bruises and brings back focus on my continuous journey of life.
Part.1 : San Francisco – New York City – Milan, Italy

今回は寝過ごす事無くサンフランシスコの自宅を早朝に出て時間通りに空港に到着出来ました（笑）空港の出発ゲートでは旅先で出逢うであろう人たちに渡すお土産を物色する時間の余裕もありました。初日はとりあえず北アメリカ大陸を東に飛び、ニューヨークでミラノ行きのAitaliaに乗り継ぎました。

雲行きは怪しいながらも、ヨーロッパの空気は相変わらずピッシリしてました。晩秋の季節です。ミラノ・マルペンザ国際空港からはMalpensa Shuttleのバスに乗り40分ぐらい掛けて市街地へ。バスは映画「ひまわり」のシーンにもなっていたミラノ中央駅で僕を含めた少人数の旅人を降ろしました。
そのまま駅構内にあるクロークチェックに荷物を預けてレオナルド・ダ・ヴィンチの「最後の晩餐」が保存されているSanta Maria de Grazieの教会へ向かいました。

教会までの道中—道に迷えど見るもの全てが新鮮でした。
I got slightly lost on the way to Santa Maria de Grazie (aka “The Last Supper” church where the famous work of Leonardo da Vinci is vaulted within the high security walls) but that was OK because getting lost is the best way to experience the structure and characteristics of the city.

イタリアで実際に目の当たりにした「最後の晩餐」は一番心に響いた。それは一昨年の冬にスペインのマドリードでみたピカソの「ゲルニカ」を見たときに近い感動である。本物の歴史の断片を本場で見れた感激は文章に起こすのが難しい。
作品そのものの歴史は絵画の前に親切に設置されていた解説文から読み取れたけれど、絵画が経てきた時間の流れとかあの狭い空間に籠ってひとりでひっそりと描いていたダ・ヴィンチさんの姿とかも何となく見えてきたよ。とにかく素人目に見てもあの絵はとんでもないブツだった。
Sorry, I almost got my camera confiscated when I entered the Santa Maria de Grazie to see “The Last Supper” so I haven’t got any picture to show here (kidding). But god what a spiritual experience to admire the real Da Vinci work in Italy (Out of all places)!
My time in Milan was rather short, but seeing Da Vinci’s “The Last Supper” was definitely a highlight of this visit. Everything else after “The Last Supper” was also nice but not so comparable experience.
「最後の晩餐」に継ぎミラノのもう一つの名所ともいえるのがドゥオーモ（教会堂）の建物と屋上展望台である。
この日は早晩にベルリンに移動する計画なので時間制限があるけれどここだけは見ておきたかったので行きました。ちなみに入場は無料。屋上の展望台にはエレベーターと階段の２オプションでそれぞれ値段の違うチケットが販売されています。階段の方はエレベータの半額ぐらい。せっかくなので試練だと思って階段で上がってくださいってことなのか。え？勿論上りましたよ階段で。
ドゥオーモの屋上から見渡したミラノの街は近代都市という印象を強く与えました。特に下２番目の写真に映っているキノコ型の建築物とか違和感ありました。
しっかしくすんだヨーロッパの町並みのカラーはどんよりした天候に協調するなぁ。
Although I mentioned not comparable, that doesn’t mean I gave up on seeing anything besides “The Last Supper” in Milan.
The second stop was Duomo Cathedral.
As I exited the underground Metro station, Duomo’s spiky building immediately struck me with excitement. This is exactly what I wanted to see in Europe after almost 13 hours of transatlantic flight from US! Duomo is open to public and you can enter the building for free. There is a way to get to the roof of this state of art Cathedral either by elevator or stairways with fare. The roof offers panoramic view of this super modern city.
ドゥオーモの頂上で夕陽を撮っていたらフィルムが切れたのでミラノの写真はこれだけですが、この後ラファエロや大好きなカラヴァッジョの作品を展示しているコレクション展に行き、夕食はイタリアの食文化のひとつアペリティーヴォをやってるパブでお酒とビュッフェを味わい夜の飛行機でベルリンに移動しました。
次回はベルリンでの三日間を写真と共におくります。
My camera ran out of film on the summit of Duomo, so this is it for photos of Milan. After Duomo I went to Pinacoteca di Brera that shows collection of works including Raphael and Caravaggio’s, then 3 plates of Italian tapas and 1 glass full of aperitivo later I traveled back to the Central Station to pick up my backpack and caught the night plane to Berlin.
