Caught in Atmosphere – Chapter 6 : Nowhere (Middle of)

New Year’s Day is something special in my book: It not only signifies the beginning of new chapter, but also introduces how this story shapes up in next 364 days of journey.

I started to write diary when I was junior year in high school in Guam in hopes of escaping boredom from being trapped in rather monotonous island life. Now it’s nearly decade later I am still writing today. It’s often hard to keep the habit, but once you get a hang of it after writing for maybe 3 months or 4 it starts to become part of your life. It’s like smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee except it gives enough buzz to life without leaving residue in your health department.

So I’ve been writing writing and writing for years and books of my life are stacking up. I think I have at least 8 bound of books in different volumes and sizes that could eventually be used for source of my another writing. Although I’ve been moving and living around in different places, some books are missing from my possession. Most of my earlier volumes are with my parents in Guam and I am just not bothered to look back on those at the moment.

Time moves forward and I took few steps backward to write about the beginning of 2015 that happened three months ago (God! It’s already April!) I found myself in the middle of nowhere in Nevada on the backseat of 4WD truck with three fools from Vegas on New Year’s Day:

Just like riding the ship that keeps moving through nervous waves – Off-roading into the desert field with carpets of hollowing yucca trees made me feel so detached from ordinary ways. There was no set plan, we just drove into the wilderness by whim.

Even in the depth of wilderness, it is not uncommon to see the trace of human life like empty cans of coca-cola or trails of tires. More often than not there is some sort of sign that reminds you why environmental topics such as global warming is popular discussion item among big city inhabitants.

The problem of the erectile deeprootsmag.org cialis online from canada dysfunction can be resolved easily by the intake of this medication. Usually, they manipulate the muscles by means sildenafil delivery of massage, together with alternative medicine. The normally approved deeprootsmag.org levitra price design bears the rounded shape colored in orange outfit. However, it is notable that FDA has released some warnings against this medicine back in price sildenafil the year of 2007. In the case of this adventure to the wilderness somewhere near Mount Charleston in Nevada, it was safe to say nothing but vast nothingness was there.

003 copy 004 006 007 008The world was there in the way it must have been since the conception of this planet. Except for few roadways that diverged from main road to dehydrated boonies of eventual dead end, the place was inaccessible to human.

015 016 017 011The sun slowly shifted and the night poured its thick tarp over our heads. Deepening the sense of isolation as we lost our way back to the road (Yes, we’ve been driving on and off rocks and gaps of hills somewhere only satellites can determine the location).
No reception on our phones, no visible path, the only seemingly legitimate thing to do was to cut through the desert to get to the other side of vast land where the Interstate highway can supposedly pump us back to Las Vegas.

There was heavy silence inside the 4WD truck.
Headlights of truck became our only eyes to see the way. Off-roading for hours I lost count of yucca trees we have killed as we stampeded through bumpy rocks. A place like this reminds me how power of technology can be so convenient at most needed time.012 013 014_v2Good news is: I am writing this post right now sipping cup of coffee at neighborhood cafe chilling out to some folk songs sang by unknown person. This could mean either our attempt made success or otherwise. Life could take funny turns along paths, and this off-roading adventure was certainly a mix of various toss and turns (and ups and downs on bumpy rocks). So that’s how my 2015 opened up, and I am definitely feeling the effect of powerful beginning. Book started with memorable first line can only lead to interesting read, right? Well, that’s at least what I want to believe.

Stay tuned for more adventure reports.
Thanks for reading!
