Some journey takes funny detours. It’s like a bonus track to an album. It’s surprise to find it, and almost feels like a gift from the artists.
My brief stop at Gold Strike Hot Springs on the way back from Flagstaff to Las Vegas was just like awesome bonus track added to the tail of journey.

After the hiking, I made a stop at Hoover Dam to gaze the glowing sunset and capture the remaining daylight from the top of man-made dam.
日が暮れ始めたので最後はフーバー・ダムの展望台から夕陽を眺め、スライディングで営業終了直前のダムの頂上まで行ってみました。
There was no set plan for the visit to Gold Strike Hot Springs and Hoover Dam, but somehow I made the best out of the spontaneous stops.
The definite recommendation for those visiting these areas in Nevada is to start hiking on Gold Strike Hot Springs trail to Colorado River earlier on the day and spend good chunk of afternoon at Hoover Dam (you can cross the bridge above the dam by foot).
Both Gold Strike Hot Springs trailhead and Hoover Dam are only about an hour drive from Vegas, so it’s a wonderful add-on to spice up the vacation you’d be spending in the area.
完全な思いつきで立ち寄ったGold Strike Hot SpringsとHoover Damでしたが、なかなか内容の濃い充実した寄り道でした。ラスベガスに滞在する機会があるならば是非一度立ち寄ることをお勧めします。車だとラスベガス市内から一時間以内で来れるので、午前中に上で紹介したGold Strike Hot Springsのハイキングそして午後一杯フーバー・ダムの観光をすると良いと思います。ダムの上に掛けられた橋は徒歩で散策も出来るようなので、時間があればそちらも是非チャレンジしてみてはいかがでしょうか。
